To the hills!

...and back. Last weekend Becky, her little sister Megan, and I pointed ourselves east and headed for Breckenridge, Colorado for a massive maternal family reunion. I had already met most of her mom's side, and I think they are tons of fun, so I was excited to say the least. Beck's family very graciously adopted me as one of their own for the weekend, which afforded me further opportunity to get to know them and to meet her dad for the first time. Awesome guy of course. Solo me falta un hermano.

Here is spotty documentation:

Just kidding, this has nothing to do with anything. Sometime back in June.

Megan at the entrance to a random cemetary on Hwy 6. I think this girl is hilarious. She's only 13.

A cheeto game with the 3 grandpas

Becky's Uncle Lewis and me getting extreme with the water balloon toss. We won pretty easily...

...and then this happened.

Waterfalls on the way up to Upper Mohawk

Me with Papa Mortensen. We're thinking of starting a gang.

Beck and Breck

Sweet crater/lake thing at the top, Upper Mohawk. The final descent was really steep, and all the sudden the surface of this lake was right at eye level as you came to the top. Words can't illustrate the beauty, nor can photos capture.

Becky and her dad

At an Italian place in downtown Breckenridge. Mine is my napkin; Beck's is the tablecloth.

Cousin John sportin my shades and his wife Shannon. Their cute little boy is below.

Baby Nathan (6 months) sportin my other shades.

This is an internet picture of Vail, Colorado, a town I drove through and Becky slept through on the way back. I secretly decided that I will spend some portion of my life there. This photo doesn't look like much, but I drove through a valley probably 5 miles long, and the mountains were covered with ski lifts and the valleys were covered with golf courses. Mmmmm.

I gained a renewed appreciation for the beauty of Colorado on this trip. I had almost forgotten that as a 14-year-old boy scout camping in Colorado Springs, I was blown away that the summer night was cool enough to sleep IN my bag, and bug-free enough to sleep WITHOUT a tent, under a sky filled with stars. Almost it persuadeth me to forsake the ocean, but not quite.

Thanks for the pics, sounds like a fun trip. I wanna jump in that lake -- well not really but I kinda do, I would change my mind as soon as I got in then be glad I did it when I got out, as long as I didn't get out so fast I was nothing more than a wimp. Is that plenty clear?

We look forward to meeting Becky.

Sweet post. Sounds like Becky's family is really cool. But I'm not really cool enough to assess coolness but I would guess they are.

It turns out Jen and I are moving to Colorado too, we can be next door neigbors :) Don't worry just kidding about the neighbors thing. Man I love those mountains and lakes. See youg guys here in Houston soon.
