"We are SO watching Bambi"

After finally blending in courtesy of the rustic look and by adopting the local jargon (Del Norte, silent "e"), we were struggling to differentiate ourselves ("I did some legal work for Enron," "oh yeah sure you did"). I'm sure our transformation was pretty drastic. All in all the trip was a roaring success. One that never needs to be repeated. (at least not in the same place) Here are some pictures that you've already seen but that will now forever be found in the anals of the Thurber Family Blog. In reverse order:

They fought a good fight, they finished the course.

A curious buck who was met by a band of inaccurate rock-throwers.

Clean and shiney after a brave dip in the lake.

A rare sighting of the Squaw Lake monster.

Mark on top of the world.

A cell phone attempt from nearly 13,000 ft.

This ski hill is open year round.

The 12,000 ft club.

Anything is edible when you're this far from civilization.

Squaw Lake from above. Just to the left of the lake was our homebase.

Austin makes the mountains look good.

Mark pretends to read his scriptures while secretly observing chipmunk behavior.

Falling with style down the loose rocks.

This post wouldn't be complete without some lame-o Scott flower pictures.

6 1/2 miles and 2000 ft of elevation later, it was time for a rest.

Avalanche area.

A nice father and son shot.

Looking pretty good at this point.

Scott salutes the underwear flag, oddly fitting.

Austin's crazy hops.

One view from the continental divide.

Squaw Lake.

Scott - thanks for documenting the adventure - I'm sure some other relatives (my parents) will enjoy them as much as I do.
