Labor Day weekend 2011 was truly an adventure for us.
I will sum up a bit, then we will get to the good part. Pictures.
Friday: "Apollo 18" and lots and lots of popcorn
Saturday: BYU vs. Ole Miss, Mozart at Miller Park (not the real Mozart, sillies)
Sunday: Church, San Antonio
Monday: San Antonio continued, Smokey I-10, Camille's birthday celebration at Perry's
| The view from our Metro Rail stop of my most favorite Texas sunset to date. On our way to Mozart in the Park. Just lovely, huh? |
| Miller Outdoor Theater. Where dreams come true. |
| My sneaky-sneaky, no-flash picture of the orchestra performing on the gorgeous twinkle-lit stage. No pictures allowed--- we sure showed them who's boss! |
| Isn't this the coolest medical building you ever did see? |
So, it started to rain during intermission of Mozart in the Park, so we made a "fast-excape" and ended our night just a tidge early to get some sleep for the drive to SanAn the following morning. After sacrament meeting, of course, 'cause to we know what's up.
WELCOME TO SUNNY SAN ANTONE! (I am so glad to finally know that San Antonio and San Antone are the same thing. One step closer to becoming a bona fide Texan, I suppose.)
| I don't know what this is, but it sure is big and orange and in the middle of the road, huh? |
| The Riverwalk Tour. |
| Creepers. |
| HUGE Cypress tree. Apparently it was used at one point by the Mexicans to spy on the Spaniards. Or was it the Americans to spy on the Mexicans? Or the Texans to spy on the other Americans?... |
| This building was designed to give you the feeling that it will, at any moment, fall on your head. Way cool, huh? | |
| Every single room in that hotel up there was built individually on a building site 10 miles from here in the 60s and carted over by crane and stacked like legos to make room for the guests of the 1968 World Fair. 1968 could be a make-up number. I never can tell what my brain will remember properly. |
| We remember the Alamo. No, not literally. |
| Taking a laugh-break by the huge Alamo memorial statue. |
| Huge Alamo memorial statue. |
| Entering the Twilight Zone. (Smoke from the Central Texas fires.) For those who have read The Road (Jen), it really reminded me of what the world must have looked like in McCarthy's mind. How bizarre, how bizarre. |
| This one's for Austin. |
It was a GREAT weekend. Full of craziness. Camille received a fire-bellied toad for her birthday (sorry, Camille), and we enjoyed a lovely wrap-up to the long weekend with a delicious dinner at Perry's (thank you Mark and Marleen!). We also may or may not have stolen some large rocks from Perry's to go in the toad's aquarium. May or may not.
For a more in-depth look at our night at the Super 8 in San Antonio, go
here. Then you will truly get the whole picture. ;)

Your pictures are awesome! Favorite is the Alamo memorial statue!
I liked the picture of you two in front of the Alamo (and the sunset one). Nice recap of your trip, Becky. But, you left out the rude woud-be intruder at your motel door and the horse flies in the room. No pictures of those?
Sadly, I was too terrified to snap any of the intruder and too grossed out to take them of the flies lol.
I remember the Alamo.
haha thanks for sliding me in there guys! and how old is this guy^
Austin
Your commentary is perfectly funny. And the pictures are taken by someone with an artistic eye. :) My favorite was the "creepers" one. haha yikes!
