Thurbosterone Challenge: Edition 4

Austin starts the testosterone challenge by checking his nails.
Austin's face belies his true feelings in this picture.  He was suffering from GI issues early on that he toughed out to make up for his pre-hike manicure above.
I'm a sucker for the ol' reflection shot.
Photographer's Point (Jen pointed out to me that we are following good posing technique by ensuring that you could see our sides between each person.  Apparently that's what seasoned posers do to look more thin.)
Almost identical to last picture, but this illustrates mine and Clint's interchangeability.  This is the first trip both Clint and I have been on.  And since we're nearly the same person, (hopefully Clint isn't offended at the comparison) we took turns taking pictures of the group. (Jen went back and forth between these shots not noticing how they were different - reinforcing my point.)
Hmmmmm....bright green.
Mosquitos were bad at times.  Austin and Clint attempted to ward them off by spraying their clothes with bug repellent.
Boot print that looked like a running man.
All these shots are from the Wind River range.  'Twas beautiful.
My grandpa jokingly taught my Dad that places like these were for the moon to pass through when it went around the earth.
The fellowship of the ring.
Austin and I broke off to try to get to altitude.  We couldn't find the trail we wanted so Austin suggested we just hike the nearest tall thing - this 12.5 K ft peak.
The view from up top.
The above reflection pic is tricky on the eyes.
Later evening lighting with the moon in the reflection.
Attempts at drying socks and slow roasting feet.
Pre-white water rafting.  We were on the Snake river hitting a decent amount of Class 3 rapids.  We got plenty wet and had a ton of fun. Certainly a trip highlight.
Smiles are fake, water was FREEEEZING!
Mark also went for a swim - on purpose.

Saw a decent amount of wildlife.  Our list included: moose, grizzly bear and cubs, black bear cub, black wolf, elk, bison, and deer.

Grand Teton nat'l park.  The middle tallest one is THE Grand Teton.
At the end of the Wind River hike.
So happy to be back to the car.  It symbolized the hope of return to comfort and well-cooked meals.
We couldn't back out because this thing was behind our car.  After poking it with sticks and trying CPR, we realized it was Mark.
FAIL.

Austin jumps the fence to go huckleberry picking.  One never knew what Austin was gonna get fired up about - but the berries were one of them.

Old faithful in Yellowstone Nat'l Park.

Grand Prismatic Spring casts a silhouette on the Thurber boys.

Yelowstone had such a cool mix of iron rust-coloured rock and turqoise-blue water.

Yellowstone lake.

One of the few remaining wild bison herds.

Yellowstone grand canyon.

Mineral coloured shale slides.

Bison kind of run the joint in Yellowstone.  This one wanted to come down the trail we were hiking up.  Most people quickly shuffled down the trail.  He didn't seem to care that we just side-stepped him.

These pools/geysers were everywhere.  More iron colouring.

Clint thought this looked a little like a chiseled body builder torso.

Cool geyser run-off that was a mix of two different temperatures.  Two differently coloured bacteria thrive in the different water temperatures, creating this bizarre colour mix.

One of the many fields with active geysers and steam, etc.

Black bear cub - no one could find the mother.  We didn't stick around to find out.
Mark got the picture he wanted.

PS Found some other weird pictures on this card taken by Christine over the last few years that I thought ought to be posted. This is your reward for wading through this painfully long post.
Lion lady at Austin's swim meet.
I'm glad she's behind bars.
?

Clint practices attacking bears from behind.

Austin demonstrates proper technique, Clint experiences it.

 Wobbly creek cross. Impressive save.

Apparently he had something left in the tank.

 Old time cowboy variety show.

Sweet yodelling. I actually really like listening to good yodelling. :)

Banjo machina. Old faithful erupts. Grand Prismatic Spring panning shot Funny Christine face - posted without Christine's permission. :)

Wow - what an adventure! These are great pictures, Scott. Now this is what I call a blog! ha Love the lion lady - she was so strange, and it was hard to get a picture of her, too. Can't figure out what Christine is doing at the end, though.

Scott, thanks for putting these together. Loved how you slipped Austin's Cub Scout photo in there without a word.

Great pictures! You are the manliest men I ever did see. I'm glad you didn't have to try out the choke-hold on a bear. Not sure if that would have went over too well.

I can't believe you just said that. That bear would get dominated.

Clint- you know I know that you could man-handle that bear. And I totally agree that your back-attack would work. I was merely saying that maybe the forest rangers wouldn't have appreciated you strong men putting choke-holds on their bears... Yeah, that's definitely what I was trying to say.

Sorry for the confusion. xo
